Homes and areas
The town centre is a conservation area lined with stone terraces. There is a 1950s estate north of Windermere Road, newer housing off Slade Lane, and apartments in the converted Victoria Mill on Ightenhill Street. Parts of Padiham flooded in 2015 and an Environment Agency defence scheme on the River Calder is planned, so we always check flood risk and insurance with landlords here.
Getting around
Padiham has no station of its own. Hapton and Rose Grove are both about two miles away, with hourly trains to Preston and Colne, and Rose Grove also has direct Manchester services. Frequent Mainline buses run to Burnley, Accrington and Clitheroe, and M65 junctions 8 and 10 are each about two miles away.
Local amenities
Gawthorpe Hall, an Elizabethan house run by the National Trust, sits on the edge of town. Memorial Park holds a Green Flag and has a skate park, tennis courts and the leisure centre. The Padiham Greenway path follows the old railway line, Shuttleworth College is on Burnley Road, and Shuttleworth Mead business park is a local employer.
