Homes and areas
Around half of Burnley’s homes are terraced, roughly double the national share. Most terraces sit in the inner areas around the town centre, including Burnley Wood, Daneshouse, Trinity and Gannow, while newer family estates are concentrated in Ightenhill and Whittlefield. Two-bedroom terraces were typically advertised between £575 and £800 a month in October 2026.
Getting around
Burnley has four railway stations. Manchester Road has hourly direct trains to Manchester Victoria in under an hour, plus Leeds, York, Preston and Blackpool. Burnley Central and Barracks are on the Colne to Preston line, and Rose Grove links both routes. The M65 serves the town at junctions 9, 10 and 11.
Local amenities
Charter Walk and Pioneer Place, with its seven-screen cinema, anchor the town centre. Towneley Park covers 180 hectares, and Queen’s Park and Thompson Park both hold Green Flag awards. Burnley General Teaching Hospital, Burnley College with its university campus, Turf Moor and the canal-side Weavers’ Triangle are all close by, and aerospace firms on Innovation Drive are major local employers.
