The council are consulting with the public regarding renewing the licence requirements in Trinity, Gannow and Queensgate for another 5 years, and adding Daneshouse and Stoneyholme to the licence areas.

RPC Lettings are specialist in property management in Burnley with strength which grew with Property Investment in Burnley. RPC started in March 2003 to help Landlords (Including ourselves) left stranded with Burnley properties without management when a Newcastle based Property Company was closed down for fraud. Mujeeb and Carolyn seem an unlikely partnership, but their different skills matched perfectly, and still do more than 15 years down the line. With a firm base of rented properties in Burnley, RPC have been able to expand it managed property portfolio to include property management and investment properties in Nelson, Padiham, Colne, Accrington. More lately and successfully we are also providing Property management in Bolton and Wigan.
In August 2003 RPC formed a Limited Company with 10 Landlords and 23 properties on the books.
September 2003 we opened an office in a terraced house in Padiham and took on one employee (who is still with the company). We set up letting and accounts software and built up our client base and added properties to our books.
In July 2006 we moved into the office on Briercliffe Road, Burnley, took on additional staff (again still with the company today) and joined the Burnley Council Good Landlord and Agent Scheme. We joined NALS and The Property Ombudsman professional associations. Now networked with a server, we expanded our systems, set up our website and took on more Landlords and Properties.
In October 2008 when Burnley Council introduced Landlord Licencing we helped our Landlords comply with the new regulations. That year we joined the Private Rental Sector Forum to take an active part in the dialogue between Landlords and the Council.
In 2009 the success of the business was recognised as Mujeeb Rehman (founder and MD) was named in the Under 35’s Who’s Who of Britain’s Business Elite. He was recognised for the same distinction again in 2010.
In July 2010 we doubled the size of the office and took on additional staff.
In July 2011 we started advertising property on the Zoopla portal, became a “SafeAgent” and launched a new website.
In April 2015 we acquired an existing letting agency in Horwich when the owner retired. This office is now refurbished and mirrors the Burnley Head Office’s dedication to Landlords, properties and tenants.
Now we manage some 800 properties, for over 150 landlords. Our landlords range from young investors in their 20’s to very experienced businessmen in their 80’s. We have Landlords who live locally, across the UK and abroad. We treat Landlords with equal care whether they have a single property, or a portfolio of 100+ units.
The introduction of Compulsory Landlord Licensing in Burnley and Accrington have been stumbling blocks for many Landlords, as the requirements for the standards of property maintenance and management and being a license holder are quite stringent and can be expensive to achieve and maintain. RPC has been helping both landlords and the council since the start of the schemes, and we have an excellent working relationship with the Landlord License team. By working with them and landlords to comply with the requirements in the most efficient and cost effective way, we save time and get help from them when we need it. Initially Landlord licensing appears to be no more than an extra tax on landlords, but in practice the tenant referencing requirements and housing standards expected have reduced anti-social behavour and improved the neighborhoods.
Our highly trained, experienced and multi-lingual staff are available to help both Landlords and tenants during office hours, and there is always someone on duty to respond to emergency calls out of office hours. We have a list of reliable contractors who work with us for property maintenance and repairs. Landlords can use their own contractors or we can arrange any work for them.
We have the enthusiasm and dedication of keen entrepreneurs plus the wisdom of years of experience.
